‘Duniya Se Nafrat…’: Piyush Mishra Reveals ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’ Was Offered To Him Before Salman Khan!

Actor-writer Piyush Mishra has given some stupendous performances on screen. He possess ace acting skills. But Piyush’s career would have been completely different if he had acted in place of Salman Khan in ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’- the same film which made Salman a star. In a recent interview, Piyush made a shocking revelation that he was offered the 1989 romantic musical drama before Salman, but could not pursue it.

‘Director went gaga over my looks’

Sharing the story, Piyush said when he was in the last year of his graduation at NSD, his director called him to his room. Back then, he was a very handsome boy. He had a German jaw and a Roman nose.

When Piyush went to the chamber, he met a person who was a big director and he was launching his son as a director. They said they are making a film named ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’ and they have shortlisted the girl. They came to National School of Drama (NSD) to find the male lead.

Piyush further revealed that the Barjatyas were happy to see him, asked his name, and when will he graduate from the institute. They liked his features and clicked a photo. Barjatyas also offered Piyush to come to their Mumbai office as soon as he completed work with NSD.

‘Did not want to leave graduation

Fifteen days later, the director of National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) met Piyush and told him that he had received a call for him. He asked Piyush to leave for Mumbai immediately, even if it meant leaving NSD midway. Piyush said that he will go but he didn’t.

Piyush insisted that it was an “accident”, but he has no regrets about what happened afterwards. He added, “By then,  dil mein badi khataas is thi, pata nahi kyun duniya se nafrat si ho gayi thi. I went there after three years and came to know that Salman was born with that film and thought it was great. If I had gone back then, I would not have been able to do the kind of work I did later.”

For the unversed, ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’ marked the debut of filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya and actors Salman Khan alongside Bhagyashree. It became a blockbuster in no time. Sooraj and Salman collaborated on many hit projects afterwards like ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!’, ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’ and ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’.
