Emraan Hashmi Was The FIRST Choice For Aashiqui 2 Director Mohit Suri Revealed: “Don’t Have Regrets With Films I Didn’t Do”

Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor co-starred in Mohit Suri’s Aashiqui 2, which went on to become an enormous hit. In India, Aashiqui is a highly cherished romance franchise. Mahesh Bhatt’s first film, which starred Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal, became an overnight sensation when it was released in 1990.

Then came Mohit Suri’s Aashiqui 2 in 2013, which did well for the filmmakers as well as Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor. Pinkvilla has learned some fascinating trivia about the second part of the movie as Kartik Aaryan and Triptii Dimri get ready for the third installment. It has come to our attention that Emraan Hashmi was the original pick for Aashiqui 2.

“Mohit approached me first for Aashiqui 2 and I was like this would work more with actors who are fairly new, who don’t have a roster of past movies or an image with the audience and there would be a sense of discovering a fresh pair. I don’t ever have regrets with films I didn’t do. They were never meant for me to begin with,” confirms Emraan Hashmi, who before being approached for Aashiqui 2 had worked with Mohit Suri on 6 films – Zeher, Kalyug, Awarapan, Raaz: The Mystery Continues, Crook and Murder 2. They later even collaborated on Hamari Adhuri Kahani in 2015.

Emraan Hashmi’s latest film Tiger 3

Emraan Hashmi, meanwhile, recently starred alongside Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in Maneesh Sharma’s Tiger 3, for which he won numerous awards for the role. During a recent exclusive interview with Pinkvilla, Emraan revealed his affection for the Dabangg actor. Salman and Emraan don’t hang out every day, according to Emraan, but they do have a cosy equation.

“Like there are some people you might meet, and there’s no connection there. Yeah, you’re formal, and you’re cordial, but I think Salman (and I) are very comfortable with each other, and that makes the whole working experience also fun,” Emraan had stated. Meanwhile, he will be seen in Sujeeth’s upcoming action-thriller OG, co-starring Pawan Kalyan.
