In a recent revelation, Hollywood star Ben Affleck said that he and singer wife Jennifer Lopez are working together to compromise. They know that they are two different people, and for a relationship to work, it needs a compromise. Ben agreed that they are trying to learn to do that without making each other mad. They are finding out “different kinds of approaches” to achieve this.
Starcrossed Lovers
In 2004, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez dated for a while before calling it off. They were engaged and all was extremely well with the power couple. However, it came as a shock to fans and their friends when they decided to part ways. They both went on to marry other people and share children with their now-ex-spouses.
J Lo shared in many interviews that she was devastated after the breakup. Lopez said, “It was one of the happiest times of my life. But also, there was this other thing happening where we were being criticized, and it destroyed our relationship from the inside out.” Ben also expressed that constant public scrutiny played a big role in their splitting up.
Also, they admit they were too young back then. But as luck would have it, Ben and Jen are back together now, happily married, after almost 20 years of separation. The romance rekindled in 2021 and in July 2022, they wed in a fairytale ceremony.
Finally Together
Both the “Batman v. Superman” actor and the “Papi” singer have PTSD. Jennifer says that public display of affection (PDA) triggers their past trauma. “We both have PTSD. But we’re older now, we’re wiser. We also know what’s important, what’s important in life,” she reveals. They don’t care much for people’s opinions about displaying their romance out in the open.
However, there is a catch. Ben Affleck hates it when J Lo puts up everything on social media. Per the recently released documentary “The Greatest Love Story Never Told,” Ben requested Jen to keep their private life out of social media. Affleck says that he told Jennifer, “‘Listen, one of the things I don’t want is a relationship on social media.”
But according to Page Six, he now understands how difficult that is. J Lo has over 250 million followers on Instagram alone, and she is very active on her profile. Ben says it is unfair of him to ask her to refrain from posting their private pictures.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez Reach a Compromise
“It’s sort of like, you’re gonna marry a boat captain and you go, well, I don’t like the water,” Ben Affleck realised. Jennifer Lopez said, “But he loves me, he knows I’m an artist, and he’s gonna support me in every way. He doesn’t want to stop me. But that doesn’t mean he’s comfortable being the muse.” For now, they compromise on how to navigate their relationship, being in the spotlight. J Lo’s “This Is Me Now” is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
