Since its release, Kangana Ranaut’s Lock Upp has been generating a lot of buzzes. The Ekta Kapoor series has made headlines for a variety of reasons, from contentious utterances to the largest number of views on an OTT platform. On Sunday, Lock Upp resurfaced as a topic of debate. The least-voted candidates — Mandana Karimi, Payal Rohatgi, Saisha Shinde, and Shivam Sharma – were challenged to divulge their deepest, darkest secret during Judgement Day, which sees Kangana take over the show as host.
While Payal, Saisha, and Shivam missed the buzzer, Mandana was allowed to share her secret, which brought everyone to tears, including Kangana. Mandana opened up about her shady relationship with a well-known director. She didn’t say who the filmmaker was, but she did talk about what happened when she was dating him.
Mandana stated the covert romance began after she divorced her ex-husband Gaurav Gupta. “The time that I was struggling with my whole situation…my separation, I did have a secret relationship. My relationship was with a very well-known director who talks about women’s rights. He’s an idol to many people. We planned a pregnancy…and when it happened, he…” the actor revealed as she broke down.
Everyone was moved to tears by the reveal. Kangana Ranaut is seen teary-eyed in the episode’s promo. “It just destroyed so much for me,” she concluded. Payal was meant to talk about rehab, while Saisha was supposed to tell something about a designer, according to the trailer.
Kangana posted a tweet on her story about the ‘horrific’ incident with Mandana and how a director exploited her while she was ’emotionally in her lowest phase.’ In her tweet, the Twitter user praised Kangana for handling the situation appropriately and consoling the actress.
Responding to the tweet, Kangana commended the show and stated how Lock Upp is a ‘celebration of both beauty and brutality of life.’ She went on to say that life is difficult for any woman in the world. “Lock Upp is a celebration of both beauty and brutality of life… When we share our pain and our wounds, we deserve love and compassion. Hope people don’t judge her, life is anyway not easy for a woman,” Kangana wrote along with folded hands emoticon
Munawar Faruqui, Anjali Arora, Vineet, Zeeshan Khan, and Kaaranvir Bohra are among the contestants on Lock Upp. The show is available to watch on MXPlayer and ALTBalaji.
