“I Told Them To Get Lost, Cut The Call,” Says Mallika Sherawat On Getting The Offer Of Tesher’s Jalebi Baby!

Bollywood diva Mallika Sherawat has based herself in the US. Although she is away from the limelight for quite some time now, she never misses grabbing headlines with her sensational statements and revelations.

Mallika, who is gearing up for the release of Rajat Kapoor’s RK/RKay on July 22, has grooved to some of the major hit songs in the Indian movies and one of them is Jalebi bai from Double Dhamaal. Back in 2011, the party song choreographed by Ganesh Acharya became extremely popular among the masses. Last year, the item number inspired Canadian rapper Tesher to make another viral song Jalebi baby.

Featuring Jason Derulo, Tesher’s Jalebi Baby went on to become a major hit of 2021 on social media, especially on Instagram reels. Now, recently, actress Mallika Sherawat has revealed that she was offered the song initially, but she rejected it thinking someone was playing a prank on her.

In a recent interaction with a leading portal, Mallika said, “They called me and asked me if I can do this song. Mujhe laga kaun faltu hai (I was like who is this person).” And I told them, don’t call and disturb me and get lost. I cut the call then. I wasn’t even aware who was Tesher. How would I know? I get so many crank calls and I thought someone is doing a prank on me.”

Talking about the craze of the ‘Jalebi’ song in the US, the actress said she wasn’t aware of the virality of the song until she experienced something unusual on the streets of the US. She stated, “Whenever I walk on the streets and people are like ‘Hey Jalebi Baby’ and ‘Are you Jalebi Baby’. I will share videos with you. I wasn’t even aware of where it came from. Then my manager told me that this song is a hit.”

For the unknown, Mallika Sherawat forayed into Indian cinema with Khwaish in 2003. She tasted success with her second film, Murder featuring Emraan Hashmi and Ashmit Patel. She has been part of movies like Pyaar Ke Side Effects, Ugli Aur Pagli, Hisss, Welcome, etc.
