Kate Winslet is in shock after finding out that people use Ozempic to help in their weight loss journey. The “Titanic” star said the pill “sounds terrible” and disapproved of the casual usage of the diabetes drug. In a recent interview with the New York Times, she revealed that she has very little knowledge of the matter.
Not a Fan of Weight Loss Drugs
Winslet, 48, admits she heard that people use some drugs to help shed weight, but nothing more than that. “I don’t know what Ozempic is,” Kate continued, “All I know is that it’s some pill that people are taking or something like that.” In recent times, the sale of Ozempic has skyrocketed in the US, especially in celeb circles. Actors like Mindy Kaling have openly admitted to taking it.
But in the UK and the rest of the world, Ozempic didn’t take off as much. That might be the reason why the English actress expressed such dismay over the topic. That too, the interviewer asked her about Ozempic while she was snacking on a delicious pastry. “The Holiday” star inquired about the medicine and why it was so popular.
Kate Winslet was taken aback after discovering what it was, “Oh, my God,” she gasped. Not at all impressed, she gives out a rebellious call to everyone, “This sounds terrible. Let’s eat some more things!”
Kate Winslet Battled with Eating Disorder
The actress who embodied the role of the unforgettable Rose DeWitt Bukater in 1997’s “Titanic” says that she faced an eating disorder. “I never told anyone about it,” Kate revealed that during the shoot of the film, she was struggling. Moreover, she faced scrutiny for her full figure and weight as a Hollywood actor.
She also recalled that after the film’s release and success, even British tabloids took her apart whenever they had the chance. During that time, the late comedian and actress Joan Rivers joked that Kate sank the ship.
The film industry was mean to her at every step, and agents asked Kate Winslet to settle for “fat girl” roles. They said that people looking to sign her called them and said, “How’s her weight?” She remembered being called “blubber” due to her curvy body.
This body-shaming impacted her at such a young age. “It can be extremely negative. That is more than a young, vulnerable person can cope with,” she said. Kate also observed that Hollywood has evolved now, “It’s heartwarming that this has started to change.”
Ozempic Is Not Worth It
Even if you lose weight, it could be temporary because as soon as you quit Ozempic, your weight might bounce back. Ozempic is primarily a diabetes pill, not a weight loss miracle, and in the end, it is not worth it.
Kate Winslet sums up, “Because guess what — people in the world around you go: ‘Hey, you look great! You lost weight!’” But it does nothing for your self-esteem. “Even the compliment about looking good is connected to weight. And that is one thing I will not let people talk about.” “Kate’s new web series “The Regime” is streaming on HBO.
