Katrina Kaif is on Cloud 9 for the record-setting success of Tiger 3. She is originally from London and hence, her accent is British which can be difficult at times while working in the Hindi film industry. The actor and dialect coach Vikas Kumar recalls coaching Katrina back in the day during the dubbing of Tiger Zinda Hai.

Actor Vikas Kumar recently shared his experience of working with Katrina Kaif during Tiger Zinda Hai. He explained how he helped the Raajneeti star with her pronunciation and dialogue delivery. Katrina Kaif is from Britain and is naturally embalmed with the British accent which sometimes needs to be brushed up with proper coaching so that her dialogue delivery, accent, pronunciation etc. can justify the movie character.
Discussing with Jist, Vikas brings back memories from the days when he worked with Katrina.
“Katrina is very disciplined. I was introduced to Katrina during Tiger Zinda Hai, at the time of dubbing, when they asked me for help. I went to Katrina’s house and I met her. On the first day, when she was reading the lines, I corrected her with the pronunciation. But the actor in me also told her that ‘this dialogue can also be said like this.’ One good thing is that I don’t get intimidated by actors.”
As a dialect coach, Vikas helps actors advance and fine tune character accents and speech patterns. A dialect coach is also known as a Voice Coach. Vikas then went on explaining how Katrina responded to his coaching.
“So on the first day she told me ‘Just tell me the sound, don’t tell me how to say it.’ Fair enough. I did not feel bad or anything. I don’t know what she felt on the first day. The next day, I just told her about pronunciation and after that the scene was done, Katrina had said, ‘Once can you do and show it your way (the dialogues)?’”
Dialect coach Vidur’s experience with Katrina Kaif
Vidur is also a dialect coach who took the tough task of coaching Katrina Kaif over her dialogue delivery when she was doing Raajneeti.
In an interview with Indianexpress, he said, “But Kaif is still a work in progress. She stopped practicing after Raajneeti released. Yash Chopra called me recently to train her again for his next film.”
He also shared his experience of working with Katrina for Raajneeti.
“She had to deliver long speeches in Hindi and her accent and diction had to sound authentic. She practiced her speeches for 20 days before the shoot.”
Upcoming movies of Katrina Kaif
Katrina Kaif has several projects in her kitty right now. After Tiger 3, she has signed at least 4 films that will keep her rightly busy through next year.
Merry Christmas, Chandu Champion, Jee Le Zara and a yet-to-be-titled collaboration with Varun Dhawan. Merry Christmas release date is expected to be 12 January 2024.
