In a recent interview, our beloved actor Manoj Bajpayee recalls the thrills and challenges of improvising on set but said that no matter what you do as an actor, you must remember to never change a single word while giving Amitabh Bachchan his cues during a shot.

Manoj has worked with the legendary actor on several occasions and said that Amitabh rigorously rehearses his lines in advance. In an interview, Manoj said that he also enjoys rehearsing, because he can improvise only if he knows his lines perfectly.

Manoj Bajpayee Talks about the difficulty to change lines

Manoj Bajpayee, who has worked several times with Amitabh Bachchan, spoke about how particular the legendary actor is about his lines. During the actor’s roundtable, Manoj spoke about the benefits of rehearsals and recalled an anecdote about Amitabh Bachchan.

“Amit ji rehearses quite diligently. I’ve done three or four films with him. You cannot mess with his cues. A couple of times, I improvised slightly. He says, ‘Suniye, aapne kuch badla hai kya (Listen, have you changed something)?’ I said, ‘Pata nahi sir (I don’t know)’.”

Said Amitabh ji confirms whenever there is change in lines

Manoj said that Amitabh called someone over to reconfirm if lines had been changed. “He said, ‘Mujhe lagta hai aapne kuch badla hai (I think you’ve changed something)’. He called someone over and said, ‘Bhai scene leke aaiye (Let’s check the scene again)’. With Amit ji you can’t (improvise). One thing I’ve learned from him is that he really likes to rehearse… You do whatever you want, but give him the cue.”

In an earlier interview, Manoj had said that Amitabh was one of the first few people to congratulate him after Satya, but he was too drunk at the time to remember what the iconic actor said to him, but he remembers they shared a hug.
