Bollywood actress Madhoo is a popular name from the 90s. She entered the world of acting in the year 1991 with the film ‘Phool Aur Kaante’ opposite Ajay Devgn. Post this, the actress gave proof of her solid acting skills in many hit films like ‘Roza’, ‘Yoddha’, ‘Zalim’, and ‘Yashwant’. However, after getting meaningless and undesirable film offers like playing Devgn’s on-screen mother, Madhoo said goodbye to the industry. In a recent interview, she vented out her anger on Bollywood.
Madhoo raged over Bollywood
During an event in Chennai, the actress said that in the Hindi film industry, male actors get leads in films even in old age. But in the case of female actors, all that they get to play in films when they grow old are the roles of mothers. Madhoo mentioned that she is not interested in becoming Ajay’s mother on the big screen as they both are of the same age and they made their debut with the same film ‘Phool Aur Kaante’.
Madhoo stated that in the 90s, the hero used to have all the action scenes. On the other hand, the heroine was kept just to dance, speak a few romantic lines or shed tears with the parents. She said that though she loved dancing, the roles that came her way after ‘Roja’ were not convincing. The actress said that she believes in doing strong work. And when she did not get satisfaction in the Hindi cinema after working for 9-10 years, she left it.
Madhoo is looking for a meaty role
After quitting the industry, Madhoo realized what her identity was as an artist. Now, she is waiting to make a comeback on screen with a character that can express her as well as her audience.
