Pornography Case: Supreme Court Granted Anticipatory Bail To Raj Kundra, Poonam Pandey, Sherlyn Chopra!

Businessman and actress Shilpa Shetty’s husband, Raj Kundra was granted bail in the pornography case on Tuesday. The Supreme Court granted anticipatory bail to him as well as four others in the case. Among others, who have been granted relief by the apex court are actors Poonam Pandey, and Sherlyn Chopra. In this case, an FIR has been filed against them for distributing pornographic videos.

On Tuesday, a bench of Justices K M Joseph and B V Nagarathna directed all the accused to cooperate with the probe. The bench said, “Having heard the counsel for the parties, we are of the view that the petitioners may be granted anticipatory bail.”

Senior advocate R Basant appeared for one of the accused. He said that a charge sheet has been filed in the case. The accused are cooperating with the investigation. The Supreme Court had granted interim protection to Raj from arrest in the case.

Raj is married to actor Shilpa Shetty. He was arrested in the case in July 2021. He was released on bail later in the year. An FIR was registered against Raj. An FIR was registered to others as well after a woman made some allegations to the police.

It has been known that the case was given to the Mumbai Crime Branch. Raj was booked under sections 420 (cheating), 292, and 293 (relating to obscene and indecent advertisement and display) of the Indian Penal Code as well as the Information Technology Act. He was booked under the IRW (Indecent Representation of Women) (Prohibition) Act. Poonam Pandey and Sherlyn Chopra are co-accused in the FIR.
