‘Rana Naidu’ Star Venkatesh Daggubati Grateful For Diverse Roles: ‘Still A Long Way To Go’
Telugu film industry stalwart Venkatesh Daggubati reflects on his acting career. Downplaying the significance of the 75-movie-milestone he recently achieved, he says that every film is unique. The seasoned actor has also managed to maintain a fairly controversy-free journey. In a new press interview, he expressed his gratitude for getting diverse roles.
“I Don’t Count Success in Numbers”
The versatile actor is famous for his family-friendly roles in crowd-pulling movies. The hungry actor emphasizes, “There is still a long way to go.” While big numbers like 50 and 75 are perhaps milestones, Venkatesh Daggubati is not bothered by the numbers game. In his opinion, his illustrious career includes box office hits and flops, and he is only interested in giving his best.
“Every film requires hard work and an honest approach,” he says. Besides, most of the success Venkatesh got, he attributes to mere luck. “It is a combination of unplanned chances and a genuine passion for storytelling.” He reiterated that his performance in films of varied genres was not a carefully crafted strategy.
Missteps Are Inevitable
Venkatesh Daggubati is of the philosophy that mistakes and wrong turns are common in life, and more so in the creative field. “Indian cinema is evolving,” he says, and when exploring uncharted territories like his OTT debut “Rana Naidu,” there will be criticism.
He also admits that audiences are quick to adapt while confessing that the makers took the critics’ points into account. The next season of the Netflix series will have a toned-down script and dialogue per the viewers’ preferences.
Spontaneity and Natural Acting
Unlike other actors who work on multiple films a year, Venkatesh Daggubati’s schedule can pack only two movies annually. Shifting to this plan keeps him free to pursue his spiritual endeavours. He also spends time with family and leads a simple lifestyle, which is how he avoids getting dragged into scandals.
Venkatesh’s approach to acting has a natural flow to it. While “Guru” had him push the boundaries in terms of facial expressions, in “Saindhav,” he had to showcase a lot of body movements. He likes to work with directors who bring out new facets of him and give him a chance to explore his range. Victory Venky cherishes being spontaneous and dreads giving multiple retakes in contrast to maintaining authenticity.
Venkatesh Daggubati Is Humble to the Core
At a recent press meeting before the release of the film “Saindhav,” Venkatesh Daggubati refused to sit on a specially designed chair. He insisted on getting a regular chair and stood on the stage until the crew met his request.
He opines that he is equal to other crew members and doesn’t want preferential treatment. This humble manner, which is a virtue that played a role in his long-standing stardom, won over his fans and the media.
At the same event, he unexpectedly grooved to some beats from the movie, saying the infectious nature of the song tempted him to let loose. “Saindhav” is a drug cartel-based action drama that marks the Telugu debut of Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Venkatesh Daggubati calls him “an extraordinary actor” who brings a unique touch to his character.
