Rani Mukerji reveals how her film, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna guided her to the right path for marriage

Rani Mukerji discussed her iconic film Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, which costarred Shah Rukh Khan, and its significant influence on her life in an interview with Galatta India. The actress said that her film gave a new perspective on these women’s attempts to be honest in their relationships in a society where women don’t open up even after getting married. Rani also mentioned how, in the end, it helped her personally discover the ideal motivation for marriage:

“There are many women who don’t open up in their marriages for a long time. The years pass and they become old and they are like ‘Why didn’t we be honest to ourselves?’ But it’s too late for that. So as a young girl at that point of time when I did KANK, it also helped me to take a decision for my marriage that I need to marry for the right reason. Because if you marry for the wrong reason, you will end up being with a person and suffer all your life.”

Rani Mukerji says KANK was an eye-opener for her as well as several women out there

Speaking further about the subject, Rani revealed that her movie Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna progressively opened people’s eyes to the realities of contemporary relationships and the status of women in general. Although it encouraged people to make wise partner selections, it also contributed to the dissolution of many marriages for valid reasons. In her own words:

“It was an eye opener for a lot of young girls, eye opener for a lot of men, and eye opener for a lot of people who were in marriages, and a lot of marriages broke after that because they went to the theatre and they were extremely uncomfortable watching the film because they were watching their life and it’s not easy to watch a film which is actually depicting their own life.”

Rani Mukerji revealed that she didn’t celebrate her birthdays growing up
