The splendid and elegant Oscars evening turned into a wild uproar when Chris Rock got slapped by Will Smith across the face. While presenting the award for Best Documentary Feature (won by Summer of Soul), actor-comedian Chris Rock made a joke about Will Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s buzzcut and said,” Jada, I love you, can’t wait for G.I Jane 2″ and the rest was history.
Later a teary-eyed Will Smith apologized for his out-of-the-way behaviour on stage while accepting the best actor award for the movie King Richard and said, “love will make you do crazy things.”
Jada suffered from Alopecia Areata, an autoimmune disease that triggers massive hair loss. Bollywood actress Sameera Reddy shared her grapple with Alopecia and hair loss on Instagram after that unfortunate incident at the Oscars.
“The current Oscar controversy made me want to shed light that we all have our individual battles we are fighting and healing from, and we need to create a positive, safe space for one other,” the actor shared.
She added, “Alopecia doesn’t make people sick, nor is it contagious,” and explained further that it could be traumatic to confront the reality emotionally. The 43 years old recalled the dreadful experience and how she dealt with that. In 2016 soon after the birth of her son, her husband, Akshai Varde, discovered a 2-inch bald patch at the back of her head. After that, two more bald patches were found.
Alopecia Areata is an autoimmune disorder that weakens the hair follicle forcing it to fall out in large numbers, sometimes in chunks. The bald patches could be found all over the body. A family history, pernicious anaemia, malfunctioning thyroid, or seasonal allergies can instigate this condition. It can be reversed with proper treatment, but it may return.
The Race actress has been vocal about body positivity, motherhood, postpartum depression, after pregnancy fitness, and holistic living on the internet for a long. Sameera and her mother-in-law Manjri Varde, who goes by the name of ‘Messy Mamma and Sassy Sasoo’ on the internet, often enlighten us about age-old recipes, forgotten foods, and fitness.
Sameera, who flaunts her grey hair and after-pregnancy-baby- pouch effortlessly on social media, shared that her hair grew back with Corticosteroids injections on the three patches and with the help of Homeopathy. She was asked to keep stress at bay and practice holistic living.
The Taxi No. 9 2 11 actress stated that she has utterly healthy hair with no patches now, but Alopecia can reappear unannounced again.
The southern beauty got married to Akshai Varde in 2015. Often we see Sameera having fun-blast with her two little munchkins, Hans and Nyra, on social media. She was last seen in the Kannada movie Varadhanayaka.
