Famous small screen actress Sayantani Ghosh has made her way to the hearts of audiences after a lot of struggle. The actress who tasted success in the year 2007 from her famous TV show Naaginn which was bankrolled by AK Films. Ghosh became one of the most sought-after actresses in the industry with this fantasy program. But her stardom was short-lived. After the show ended in 2009, Sayantani became unemployed. She could not find any work and ran out of money.

In a recent interaction with host Siddharth Kannan, the actress expressed her pain as she narrated her struggle story. She recalled the time when money crunch forced her to sell the house.

Didn’t get work because of ‘Naaginn’

Sayantani began by revealing that she had bought her house at the age of just 23 after getting success from Naaginn. When the show ended, she started looking for some good work. But because of this show, she was type casted. Hence, she was unable to find work. The actress disclosed that Naaginn created her image as that of a serpent.

Sayantani stated, ‘I did not have work for a year. I was getting offers but they were not interesting. I thought that I will take less money, but will not compromise on the quality.’

Sayantani further quoted, ‘The makers did not give me the job because they felt that now I have become a serpent, so people have created such an image. I was not liking the roles that were coming after that, because how could I lower myself from where I had reached. I was at home for a year and a half. I was young at that time, so I didn’t even know how to save money. The money came and went.’

Sayantani had to sell the house

Sayantani told how she was forced to sell the house after running out of money. The actress shared, ‘One day I was left with no money. I would have asked my father for it. But I was proud that I did not ask anyone. I decided that I would sell the house. I sold my abode with a heavy heart. It was a big achievement for me as it was my first home. I wanted to keep it with me forever, but this could not happen. I sold the house and started living on rent.’

Before venturing into TV, Sayantani Ghosh used to be the top actress in the Bengali industry. Her first TV serial was Kumkum. Then she played lead role in Ghar Ek Sapna. After Naaginn, she became a household name. Sayantani also appeared in prominent roles in shows like Mahabharat, Naamkaran, and Ekta Kapoor’s show Naagin 4. She participated in in sixth season of Bigg Boss.
