Shahid Kapoor On Deepfakes: ‘Problem Lies With Human Beings’- Is AI The Culprit Or Humans?
In the promotion of their upcoming film “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya,” Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon have been actively discussing how the movie delves into the realms of artificial intelligence (AI) to narrate an ‘impossible love story.’ During their recent interview with India Today, Shahid and Kriti addressed the rising prevalence of deepfake videos. Shahid attributed the misuse of AI to human actions, stating, ‘There’s a distinction between what humans create and what is naturally made by God.’
‘We are looking for an alternate reality’
Shahid Kapoor emphasized, “The problem lies with human beings themselves. They have contributed to the issues we face. Blaming AI is a way of deflecting responsibility. We often live in a virtual reality. Projecting an altered version on social media that doesn’t align with the truth. This constant comparison leads to depression. AI, like the alternate reality we seek, is as fundamental as a relationship. In our film, ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya,’ this distinction between the machine-made and the naturally created is subtly portrayed.”
Kriti Sanon expressed her concern, stating, “The rise of morphed videos is alarming. But the emergence of AI-generated news anchors indicates rapid progress. This suggests that having an AI partner might become a reality in the coming years.”
