Shakti Kapoor Reveals Asking Wife Shivangi To Give Up Acting After Marriage; ‘I Begged Her…’

Bollywood veteran Shakti Kapoor has won millions of hearts with his multiple portrayals as a villain. His acting prowess in negative roles is incomparable even today. While his filmography speaks volumes of the actor’s unprecedented contribution to cinema, his personal life too is no less than a film.

Shakti is married to former actress Shivangi Kolhapure and the duo is blessed with two kids, Shraddha Kapoor and Siddhanth Kapoor. During his recent appearance on a podcast show, Timeout with Ankit, the legendary actor opened up on falling in love with his wife and much more.

Shakti Kapoor recalls restricting Shivangi from working in films

Shakti revealed that he met Shivangi during a shoot. They eventually started liking her each other. Soon, the 71-year old actor realised that he won’t get a beautiful and homely girl like Shivangi and so, they started dating.

Further in the conversation, Shakti revealed that he was madly in love with his better half. This made him fearful of his work getting affected. His worries multiplied when Shivangi started getting film offers. At this point, the iconic actor went to the actress and begged her to not work as he only wanted her to be a housewife. He stated, “It’s been 40 years with her. She gave up her career for me. I still fold my hands in front of her. I got married at the peak of my career, and she brought me more luck and prosperity.”

Shakti-Shivangi’s personal and professional life

Shakti and Shivangi tied the knot in 1982. Their families were against this alliance due to their age and cultural differences.

Shakti Kapoor made his film debut with ‘Do Jasoos’ in 1975. He is famous for his parts in blockbusters like ‘Raja Babu’, ‘Andaz Apna Apna’, ‘Gunda’, ‘Qurbani’, ‘Khuddar’, ‘Baap Numbri Beta Dus Numbri’, and many more. On the other hand, Shivangi Kolhapure was a child artist, who stepped into films with ‘Yaadon Ki Baaraat’ in 1973.
