Shilpa Shetty Says She Was Never Cast In Big Films, ‘Surviving Because Of My Songs’

Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has time and again proved that age is just a number. Her fine acting skills alongside sizzling physique is a deadly combination for glamor world. Currently, the actress is promoting her upcoming release ‘Sukhee’. In a recent interview with RJ Siddharth Kannan, she remembered how she was left unpaid in many of the films she worked in 90s.

Shilpa revisits her difficult times

Shilpa recalled the tough phase in her life when filmmakers didn’t pay her fees frequently under the pretext of incurring losses at the box-office. She also revealed that sometimes producers would pay her half the fees and cut down on the remaining.

Further in the conversation, the ‘Dhadkan’ actress credited her songs and dance numbers for sustaining in the competitive film industry. Shilpa said that in her long career, she did not get the opportunities to work under big production banners. She achieved success by working in small films with big actors. The 48-year old actress did small characters and no matter whether her films worked or not, all her songs were hits which is why she is still surviving in Bollywood.

In a previous interaction, Shilpa mentioned being identified singularly for her item songs like ‘UP Bihar Lootne’, ‘Shut Up And Bounce’ and others. She stated that more than her films, people recognised her from these peppy tracks.

Shilpa’s personal and professional life

Personally, Shilpa is married to businessman Raj Kundra. The couple has two children- son, Viaan and daughter, Samisha together.

Workwise, Shilpa Shetty who made her debut in 1993 with ‘Baazigar’ is gearing up for the release of ‘Sukhee’. The film also stars Amit Sadh, Kusha Kapila, and Pavlin Gujral. It is helmed by Sonal Joshi. Besides this, Shilpa will join Rohit Shetty’s cop universe with ‘Indian police Force’. She will star alongside Sidharth Malhotra in her digital debut show for Amazon Prime.
