Shilpa Shetty Talks Of Gender Fluidity On ‘Indian Police Force’ Sets; Says Director Had Male Role In Mind

Shilpa Shetty revealed that she replaced Suniel Shetty in the upcoming Indian Police Force series. Director Rohit Shetty is all ready to expand his famous cop universe, in his first web series ‘ Indian Police Force’.  The web series is set to be released on 19th January and stars Sidharth Malhotra, Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Vivek Oberoi. During a promotional interview, Rohit Shetty disclosed that he had a male actor in his mind for the character which is played by Shilpa Shetty.

Shilpa Shetty is the ‘other Shetty’

In an exclusive interview with ETimes, Shilpa Shetty disclosed that she was very curious to know who the male actor she replaced was. This interview revealed that the director casually hinted at Suniel Shetty.

Shilpa mentioned, When I asked him (Rohit Shetty), he said ‘if not this Shetty than other Shetty’,” shared Shilpa, stating that the filmmaker was hinting at Suniel Shetty. Referring to their character names from the superhit film ‘Dhadkan’, Shilpa further added, “So suddenly from Anjali (Shilpa) it would have been Dev (Suniel). I think he (Rohit) must have had a reason to change the gender of the character. But the way he approached the character, it had no gender bias.”

Talking about her character ‘Tara’, the actress commented, “My role in the series holds a very senior position, is a no-nonsense person, with a tough and honest personality. To play the character of someone as noble as Tara Shetty was an absolute pleasure for me. And I’m so happy that Rohit thought of me.”

To play this tough character of a female cop, Shilpa went through a lot of hardships. She injured her leg and it took nearly one year to recuperate. She stated, that after watching herself on the big screen in the trailer, she was ready to break all her bones for Rohit Shetty.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Shilpa Shetty was last seen in the family entertainer film ‘Sukhee’ which was released in theatres on September 22.
