Sonam Kapoor Looks Stunning In A 35-Year-Old ‘Gharchola’ Saree Borrowed From Her Mother, Sunita: See Here!

Sonam Kapoor looks stunning in a regal gown borrowed from her mother Sunita Kapoor. Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor borrows a 35-year-old Gharchola saree from her mother, Sunita Kapoor.

Sonam Kapoor shared a few stunning photos of herself on Instagram, sporting a sophisticated saree from a recent wedding. The maroon-colored saree was adorned with exquisite zari and lace work, as well as traditional Gharchola prints.

She paired it with a matching blouse embellished with sequins. Her half-tied hairstyle, delicate makeup, and kundan jewelry finished the ensemble. Sonam shared a little information about her stunning choice, stating that the Ghatchola saree she was wearing was a 35-year-old item that she had taken from her mother Sunita Kapoor’s closet. Adding a caption, she said:

“Wearing my mom’s 35 year old ghar chola. Thanks mama for lending me this sari and blouse, love raiding your closet. Do you know what a ghar chola is and the significance of it? Would love to know your answers in the comment section.”

For example, she posted pictures of herself a few days ago when she was dressed to attend one of her best friends’ weddings. She was dressed in a multicoloured, antique Benarasi saree with real gold embroidery all over it. Tassels, cowrie shells, and pearl detailing adorned the saree’s pallu. She wore her saree with a matching short kurta and dupatta, forgoing a blouse.

Sonam Kapoor once talked about her take on sustainable fashion

Sonam Kapoor, an actress and style icon in her own right, is a staunch supporter of elegant, sustainable fashion. In keeping with this theme, the diva discussed how being stylish does not entail never repeating an outfit in an earlier interview with ANI. She emphasised the significance of making sustainable fashion choices, saying:

“To me, having a product with longevity is luxury. Back in the day, my mother and grandmother would preserve expensive saris in a mal mal cloth, masterji would create made-to-measure outfits, juttis would be created to fit our feet. I’m also doing the same.”

Sonam posted some images of herself on Instagram on January 4, 2024, while wearing traditional clothing. But the thing that made people take notice was her caption for the photo. The diva talked about gradually getting back to her fit body after 16 months of childbirth and said:

“It’s taken me 16 months to feel like myself again. Slowly steadily without any crash diets and crazy workouts just consistent self care and baby care. I’m not there yet but almost where I want to be.. still very very grateful for my body and how incredible it has been. Being a woman is a wondrous thing. #babymomma #proudwoman #everydayphenomenal #vayusparents.”
