Suchitra Pillai, renowned for her unforgettable role in ‘Dil Chahta Hai‘ and currently captivating audiences in ‘The Broken News 2’, has recently shown remarkable courage by opening up about a controversial period in her life.
The ‘Boyfriend Snatcher’ Controversy
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Suchitra revealed that she was once labelled a “boyfriend snatcher” by the media. This label was attributed to her when she started dating Andrew Coyne, who had started Star Television in India. However, Suchitra clarified that it was not because of her that Andrew and his partner, model Achala Sachdev, fell apart.
“The big news that happened, which was a big misunderstanding, was not because of me. It happened at the time I came back from England, I was called a ‘boyfriend snatcher’ on the cover of several magazines. The headline read, ‘Suchitra Pillai is a boyfriend snatcher.’ It was because I started dating Andrew Coyne, who had started Star Television in India. This was the relationship in question, but it was not because of me that Andrew and his partner and model Achala Sachdev fell apart. It is water under the bridge after many years and Archala and I laugh about it.”
Lars Kjeldsen And Preity Zinta
Suchitra also spoke about her now-husband, Lars Kjeldsen’s past relationship with Bollywood actor Preity Zinta. She clarified that she was not the reason for their breakup. Lars Kjeldsen dated Preity Zinta for some time, but they split up for a different reason before he met Suchitra.
“No, that’s another story from somebody else. Preity and I were never friends, we were acquaintances because we had a common friend. But, yes, Lars Kjeldsen did date Preity Zinta for some time but that was the breakup he had before he met me and only this part is true. I didn’t come between them, they split up for a different reason.”
