On Wednesday, the Income Tax department conducted raids at the properties of Anurag Kashyap, Taapsee Pannu, Vikas Behl, and others. As per the reports, the raids were regarding tax evasion charges pressed against Phantom Production which was dissolved in 2018. Later, reports came out that Taapsee and Anurag are being questioned by the IT officials. Now, the Income Tax department has issued an official statement which states that they found discrepancies of Rs 300 crores.
The statement read, “I-T Dept is carrying out search & survey operations which started on Mar 3 on 2 leading film production companies, a leading actress and two talent management companies in Mumbai. Search operation is being carried out at Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Hyderabad: Spox, CBDT.” The next part of the statement as reported by ANI on Twitter read, “28 premises being covered in different locations which incl residences & offices. During search, evidence of suppression of income by leading Film Production house compared to actual box office collections unearthed. Discrepancy of around Rs 300 cr unearthed.”
“Evidence related to manipulation, under-valuation of share transactions of the production house, having tax implication of about Rs. 350 cr found and is being further investigated. Evidence of cash receipts by the leading actress amounting to Rs 5 crore has been recovered,” the statement read further.

Apart from this, non-genuine/bogus expenditure to related concerns by the leading producers/director having tax implication of about Rs 20 cr has been detected. Similar findings have been made in the case of the leading actress also. Search is continuing in all the premises: CBDT

Meanwhile, Anurag Kashyap and Taapsee are yet to comment on the IT raids conducted on March 3 at their properties.
