Tamil Star Trisha Takes Legal Action Against Ex-Politician For Vulgar Remarks
Popular Tamil actress Trisha Krishnan became the target of vulgar and offensive comments by a former AIADMK leader. The ex-politician AV Raju made negative remarks about Trisha while speaking about a past incident within his party. Raju, who recently got terminated by the party chief functionary, later apologised. Trisha took to X/Twitter to announce that she would initiate legal action.
AV Raju was recalling a 2017 episode involving Koovathur Resort, where AIADMK MLAs gathered after former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa died. Raju openly made abusive trash talk about “young actresses like Trisha.” He intended to aim his comments at the party leaders after he got expelled.
According to his controversial statements, the “Ponniyin Selvan” actress received Rs 25 lakh from MLA Venkatachalam from Salem West in a settlement. Soon, this speech came into circulation on the internet. When the statement came out, Trisha posted on X that her team was starting a lawsuit.
The “Leo” and “96” star wrote, “It’s disgusting to repeatedly see low lives and despicable human beings who will stoop down to any level to gain attention. Rest assured, necessary and severe action will be taken. Anything that needs to be said and done henceforth will be from my legal department.”
Actor Vishal and the Film Fraternity Stood Behind Trisha
The South film industry expressed outrage after this grave incident. It follows closely similar comments actor Mansoor Ali Khan made in December about Trisha Krishnan. Actor Vishal, the general secretary of the Artists Association, penned an angry note on social media. It reads, “I just heard that a stupid idiot from a political party spoke very ill and disgustingly about someone from our film fraternity…Honestly, I don’t want to condemn you, which is an understatement, but I hope you rot in hell. Get a job, a better job.”
The Film Employees Federation of South India released a statement: “Don’t needlessly level unfounded cheap allegations against women in the film industry. The state and central governments should deal with this assault on women with an iron hand.” Still, it is a sad state that even in 2024, talented artists like the “Varsham” actress have to bear such uncivilised talk.
Among other colleagues who came in support of Trisha are actor Kasthuri Shankar and producer Aditi Ravindranath. Besides, to everyone’s surprise, even Mansoor Ali Khan condemned the politician’s remarks. In an interview, he said, “The derogatory comment about actress Trisha is severely condemnable. It hurts my heart to see someone speak badly about a fellow actress like this.”
AV Raju Apologises
Threatened by the erupting outrage, AV Raju called for an urgent press meeting to clear his name and feign innocence. He claimed that people misunderstood his comments and his target was only to expose the political party and nothing more. “The agenda was to show AIADMK members in bad light and no one else.”
Moreover, he was not talking about any actress in particular, and hence, he said “young actors like Trisha,” without any malice. “I apologise to Trisha and everyone from the film fraternity,” the ex-political leader sought forgiveness.
