Vijay Sethupathi And Trisha’s Much-Loved Tamil ‘Film 96’ To Get Hindi Remake

Producer Ajay Kapoor has bagged the rights for the Hindi remake of the much-loved Tamil film 96, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha. Ajay Kapoor said he decided to adapt 96 in Hindi as the heartwarming, light-hearted romantic tale could transcend the language barrier. The cast and director for the remake are yet to be announced.

Trisha’s character was names Jaanu after the legendary singer Janaki Devi Amma. The lead pair of Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha has achieved a remarkable feat by penetrating the lives of their characters. 

The 2018 romantic drama followed the story of two high school sweethearts who fall in love with each other but are forced to part ways. They meet at a reunion, 22 years after they moved apart.  The film is about a photographer who goes down memory lane after visiting his school and arranges for a school reunion. He meets his lover, who is currently married during the reunion and they recall their moments in school. The film was a blockbuster and it impressed fans of all ages.

This movie is directed by C Premkumar. It was his cinematographer directorial debut, he hasn’t worked as an asst. director to any filmmaker before the film. It was said that the entire script was written in 20 days during the Chennai floods when he was stuck inside his apartment.

The film was also remade in Telugu, starring actors Samantha and Sharwanand, and in Kannada, starring actors Bhavana and Ganesh.
