Women Entrepreneurs Transforming Lives

The recent has highlighted the need for putting women and girls at the centre of economies and especially in creating an AtmaNirbhar Bharat. Let’s meet some remarkable women entrepreneurs who across edtech, healthtech and social enterprises who have done remarkable work amidst the challenges of a global pandemic.

Prerna A Jhunjhunwala (Founder-Creative Galileo)

Creative Galileo started amidst the pandemic with Prerna’s focus being early childhood learning while keeping it fun. The App is based on famous kids’ characters such as Little Singham. It represents a paradigm shift from traditional teaching practices and delivers highly engaging storylines of Little Singham and his friends, Babli, Lattu, Hawaldar Karate, and many others. Since its inception in July 2020, the app has recorded over 6 million downloads and over 6 lakh monthly active users without any marketing spend. HolonIQ recently listed Creative Galileo on their annual list of the 100 most promising EdTech startups from India & South Asia.

Shilpa Singhal

Sitare Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that aims to empower talented underprivileged children through education. Shilpa is a Physicist and a Computer Scientist with degrees from State University of New York (Binghamton) and Cornell University. Her deep involvement with her children’s education, and her volunteer work in schools, gave her a deep appreciation for what it takes to educate a child to be a professional. This led to the birth of Sitare Foundation which Shilpa runs along with her husband Amit Singhal who led the Google search for over fifteen years (2000-2016).

Adopting a scientific, step-by-step approach to impact lives and societies through education the Foundation’s mission is to “Transform fifty thousand lives through education by 2050”. The Foundation works towards empowering children from humble backgrounds and marginal sections of the society.

Dr. Priyanka is a firm believer of the fact that Dentistry is a perfect combination of aesthetics and science and can make a huge impact on an individual’s look, feel and function which ultimately aids in improving their self-confidence. Rejove aims to make professional and advanced orthodontic treatment accessible to people across age groups. ‘Rejové Aligners’ are next-generation clear aligners facilitating a virtually discreet and removable alternative to braces. The company recently received a USD I million funding for Rejove Aligners. Rejove’s flagship skin and haircare service SkinU is also an industry frontrunner. Doorstep services from the safety and convenience of one’s home are also being offered by Rejove for eligible customers.
