‘You Look Like A Fool’: Classical Musicians Slam Rishabh Pant For His 2 Month Old Dream 11 Ad

An ad featuring cricketer Rishab Pant caused a stir on social media after classical musician Kaushiki Chakraborty Purbayan Chatterjee issued a statement dissing ads that offended Indian classical music, the artists said. This announcement was posted during the 2022 T20 World Cup in October but It fuelled some musicians now.

In the Dream 11 commercial, Rishabh Pant is shown as a failed musician, if not a cricketer. In an advertisement for Dream 11, Rishabh Pant said, “Thank God, I made my dream come true.”

Now classical musician and singer Kaushiki attacked Rishab Pant over the advertisement and tweeted that he is “making a fortune” by insulting Indian classical music, saying, “I have no words to express my disgust and contempt for this advertisement. Ignoring your heritage makes you an idiot, Rishab.” .”

On 9 December 2022, Kaushiki wrote in her tweet,”I don’t have words for this disgusting ad.Disrespecting your legacy makes you look like a fool. This is the music of Pandit Ravi Shankar, Ustad Zakir Hussain and Pandit Bhimsen Joshi. I’m sure you’ll make a lot of money from it, but is it worth it?

She again wrote in the comment section, “I am into Indian classical music and never followed cricket, but I have never neglected or disrespected your work. If you are not trained to understand something, at least be sensible enough to respect it. Making fun of your heritage makes you look like an idiot,”.

However , Many fans of Rishabh pant supported him in the comments section by saying it is not the fault of him but of the creative team who work on ad scripts while many other reprimand the Ad saying it is so disrespectful to make such Ad regarding our culture and Heritage.

Sitarist Purbayan Chatterjee made the following statement,”The advertisement presents Indian classical music in a humorous and slightly offensive way. I am shocked and offended because this is not the first time this has happened. I don’t think it’s justified. It is a great form of musical art that is appreciated and admired all over the world. Speaking of cricket clubs, legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar are ardent supporters of this art form.“
