Sanam Saeed Says Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan ‘Got Brunt’ Of India’s Ban On Pak Artistes, ‘Was A Tough Exit’
In the past few years, TV shows of Pakistan have gained a lot of appreciation from Indian audiences. They have made a special place in the hearts of Indians. And it all began with Sanam Saeed-starrer Zindagi Gulzar Hai. The show became an overnight sensation not just in its own nation but also in India when it got aired here in 2014.
Recently, Sanam got into an exclusive Indian publication where she revealed that Pakistani artistes make fun of how Muslims are portrayed in Indian cinema. She also shed light on how ban on Pak actors after the 2016 Uri attack was difficult for her fellow actors Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan.

Sanam stated that Indian films have Muslims wearing Kajal and the namaz cap. There is something green in the background to show that this is a Muslim person. Politically, they are always projected as the enemy in Hindi movies. She mentioned that though India and Pakistan are collaborating in reality, she has not seen that happening in any of Bollywood film.

Talking about the ban, Sanam asserted that one should never mix politics with art and culture. She said that it was something sudden, rude awakening, a shock, confusion for them. The actress quoted, “Fawad and Mahira got the real brunt of it. They are nervous and scared because of how they were treated. So, I can totally understand why Mahira would be nervous to take take up any project here again because it was a tough exit for them.”
For the unversed, Sanam Saeed starred in a Pakistani crime fiction drama series Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam in December 2021. It was streamed on Indian OTT platform ZEE5. The six-episode web show was directed by Meenu Gaur.
