In A Sudden Rejig, Shruti Haasan Replaces Samantha Ruth Prabhu In ‘Chennai Story’

Downton Abbey director Philip John is directing “Chennai Story,” which stars Shruti and Viveik Kalra. The story is based on the book The Arrangements of Love.

In November 2021, Samantha Ruth Prabhu announced she would work on an Indo-British project, ‘Chennai Story’. The coming-of-age rom-com, however, will now see Shruti Haasan headline the project, along with Viveik Kalra.

Shruti is excited to be onboard

Shruti says she is thrilled to be working on the project, which is being produced by Guru Films’ Sunitha Tati.

She begins, “I look forward to working with Phil. I am from Chennai, so this story that highlights the diversity and uniqueness of the city is special to me.” Making movies is all about working together internationally to tell stories with deep cultural resonance.” The movie is also supported by the UK Global Screen Fund of the British Film Institute.

More About ‘Chennai Story’

A romantic comedy, Chennai Story is set in Wales and India. Shruti is set to portray Anu, a feisty private investigator.  Philip wrote it, and Nimmi Harasgama co-wrote it. The majority of the film will be in English, with a little bit in Welsh and Tamil. The movie will explore the themes of self-expression and acceptance.

In The Arrangements of Love, a bisexual Tamil woman who owns a detective business is the main character. An Indian-Welsh guy is searching for his father, who has been estranged. Viveik will portray the guy looking for his father, while Shruti will play the investigator who assists him.

Who is Viveik Kalra?

Viveik Kalra is an English actor who is cast as the male lead in the movie Chennai Story’. Viveik Kalra is known for Blinded by the Light (2019), Three Months (2022), and Lift (2024).
