“Harry Potter” actor Miriam Margolyes who played the role of Professor Sprout is fed up with fans of the franchise. She worries that adult fans of the famous films haven’t moved on and are still holding on to the fantasy story. “It’s been over 25 years,” she cries, “They should be over that by now!”

Superfans Scare Margolyes

Miriam Margolyes is a popular British actress who has many hot television shows and movies. For instance, she is well-known for the “Blackadder” show, starring “Mr. Bean” Rowan Atkinson in the lead. However, she says that when fans of “Blackadder” approach her, it is much different from her interactions with Potterheads. The British period sitcom fans just ask her to deliver the line “Wicked child,” from the show. That is the extent of the fandom, which according to her, is much healthier than what Potter fans do. In her view, Harry Potter was a children’s movie, and all those who loved it back then are now adults. “It was 25 years ago, and I think it’s for children,” calling them to move on and grow up.

Harry Potter Is Not Charles Dickens

The seasoned actress portrayed the role of herbology professor by the name of Pomona Sprout. She was the head of the Hufflepuff House and appeared in 2 films. You first saw her in the 2nd instalment, “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.” She reunited with the team for the franchise finale in “Harry Potter and the Death Hallows – Part 2.” Daniel Radcliffe played Harry Potter in all 8 films. 

In an interview, Margolyes expressed wonder that people are still engrossed with the magical realm of Potter films. Despite being adults, people still take part in the belief of the Wizarding World. Some even have Harry Potter-themed weddings, she exclaimed. “They get stuck in it; and I feel, ‘Gosh, what’s their first night of fun going to be?’ I can’t even think about it. No.”

However, she is grateful that she got to share in the success of the J.K. Rowling creation. “Harry Potter is wonderful, and  I’m very grateful. I enjoyed being in it and meeting all the people, but it’s not Charles Dickens.” Last June, she also said, “But Harry Potter doesn’t mean as much to me as it does to fans.”

Pottermania Refuses to Die Down

No matter what anyone says or feels strongly, the Potterbuzz is not dying. There is already a TV series underway, and many reboots, spin-off books, and sequel/prequel movies are coming up. Besides, Warner Bros.

Discovery Max is currently planning a 7-season TV show that will come out in 2026. With an all-new star cast and thrilling sequences, each season will adapt the 7 books of the best-seller. Needless to say, no one wants to move on from Harry Potter!
