People Vaccinated With Covishield, Can’t Travel To Europe. Know Here Why.

To control the corona infection in the country, a rapid Covid vaccination campaign is being run. At present, most people in the country are being given the covishield vaccine, but a piece of news related to this has increased the concern of travelers preparing to go abroad. Actually, covishield has not yet been recognized by many countries. At the same time, European Union countries will not allow travelers to get the covishield vaccine.

Several EU member states have begun issuing digital vaccine passports, which will allow Europeans to travel freely for work or tourism.

The Vaccine Passport will serve as proof that a person has been vaccinated against the coronavirus. The European Union had previously stated that member states should issue certificates regardless of the type of COVID-19 vaccine, but the technical specifications of the ‘Green Pass’ indicate that it may be obtained from an EU-wide marketing authorization. COVID will be limited to vaccines.

Covishield

Currently, only four Covid vaccines have been approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA), which include the names of Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and Johnson & Johnson. That is, only those who get these four vaccines will be able to travel to European countries. Covishield, a variant of the AstraZeneca COVID vaccine manufactured by the Pune-based Serum Institute of India (SII), is yet to be approved by the EMA for the European market.

The European Union will only recognize the Vaxservia version of the AstraZeneca vaccine, either UK or Europe-made, for the Green Pass. On the other hand, low and middle-income Indians are among those who have got the Covishield vaccine. Let us tell you that Covishield has also got approval from WHO. Even after this, the vaccine has not been approved by the European Union.
