The third season of the OTT version of the contentious reality show Bigg Boss will premiere, but Salman Khan will not be hosting the show again. Due to his commitment to a film, the actor has bowed out of the upcoming season.
Salman Quits the show
According to a source, Salman is not hosting the third season of Bigg Boss OTT. Rather, Anil Kapoor, the actor, will take over as the third season’s host.
“At the moment, Salman is focused on the prep work for his upcoming film, Sikandar, directed by AR Murugadoss. That is one of the reasons he didn’t take on the hosting duties for the third season of Bigg Boss OTT,” says the source.
The insider adds, “Salman is expected to start shooting for Sikandar in June, and that has made him let go of Bigg Boss OTT. Along with film commitment, Salman also felt that it would also look repetitive to the audience, as he is also known to host a reality show on TV”.
Anil Kapoor joins in
Another source confirms the news and adds that “Anil Kapoor will be hosting the show this time and bringing his quirks and trademark wit” to the set.
A promotional piece from the creators gave away the change. Bigg Boss OTT is coming to Jio Cinema in June, the company revealed in a minute-long announcement promo posted on their official Instagram account on Wednesday. A voiceover concludes the promotional video with “Yeh season hoga khaas ekdum jhakaas,” using the term “jhakaas,” which is commonly linked to Anil.
“Anil is excited to take on the hosting duties and add his touch to the show. The change of host also comes in sync with the trend of having a new host for every season,” adds the source.
