The Disney Lawsuit Against Marvel Superhero Scarlett Johansson Has Been Settled!

Scarlett Johansson the star of the Marvel superhero film Black Widow settled a lawsuit over the actress’s pay in the Marvel Superhero film. The suit was on the Walt Disney company over its simultaneous release of the movie in cinemas and on its streaming service.

Filed in state court in Los Angeles, the lawsuit arguing that Disney broke a longstanding agreement with the actress to release Black Widow as a “wide theatrical release,” according to a court filing sent to Forbes via Johansson’s lawyer. Hollywood star was seeking to avenge a breach of contract taking on the might of the Walt Disney Company in a battle over box office bonuses which leases in on how the film Black Widow was released.

Alan Bergman, the chairman of Disney Studios Content, said he was “pleased” with the “mutual agreement,” and added that the company looked forward to working with Johansson on “several upcoming projects.”

The red carpet was rolled out for the movie’s premiere on Disney’s streaming service at the same as in cinemas. Scarlett Johansson was promised that the film would hit the big screen first where she profits before the pandemic that would usually mean a three-month window before it hits the small screen.

But the actress was arguing that by streaming the movie at the same time box office receipts were hit. Disney says Scarlett Johansson had already earned the equivalent of around 15 million dollars for her role in the film and that it had fully complied with the actor’s contract.

“Black Window” was originally slated for release on May 1, 2020, but was pushed back multiple times due to the pandemic. In March, Disney announced the film would be released in July in theaters and on Disney+, where subscribers could rent it for $30.
