‘Trolling Army Set Up So That…’: Shatrughan Sinha Opens Up On ‘Boycott Bollywood’ Trend!

Bollywood actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha is known for speaking on various issues in the film industry and politics. For a long time now, multiple Bollywood films are getting boycotted on social media. And the latest to come under the radar of trollers is Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathaan’. The color of Deepika Padukone’s bikini in the song ‘Besharam Rang’ caused a lot of stir online. Now, Sinha has given his reaction on the ‘Boycott Bollywood trend’ on social media.

In a conversation with a leading news portal, Shatrughan Sinha said, ‘Nowadays, social media has become quite powerful. Unfortunately, the rest of the media is not much involved, especially after Corona. Social media has become stronger because of the space that was created after Corona. And why not be like this? Everyone has come to know the power of their voice on social media.

Shatrughan Sinha further said, ‘People write bad stuff sometimes, and you don’t know them in case you want to stop them. The troll army is planted there purposely to speak against you. In such a case, many times we or our people or our films fall victim to it. There are also times when a film, which supposedly would not have done well, got attention just because a lot of controversy was created around it.’

For the unknown, the last one year saw boycott of multiple films including Aamir Khan’s ‘Lal Singh Chadha’ and Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathaan’. While Aamir’s movie could not even collect Rs 100 crore at the box office, Shah Rukh’s flick broke all records.  The movie has collected Rs 988 crores worldwide. Apart from this, ‘Pathaan’ has earned Rs 511 crore in India.
