Vishal Dadlani Says, “I Didn’t Return To Indian Idol After Anu Malik Became My Replacement”- Deets Inside

Music composer Vishal Dadlani, who last appeared as a judge on Indian Idol 12, has revealed why he did not return to the music reality show after a hiatus in June. He said it was not “financially feasible” for the creators to put him back on the show because he was “expensive”. Musician Anu Malik had replaced him as a judge on the show.

After restrictions were imposed in Mumbai due to the Covid19 pandemic, he took a break and stayed with his parents in Lonavala. He was eliminated when Indian Idol 12  shifted its base from Mumbai to Daman for the shoot. In the Indian Idol 12 finale, after the set returned to Mumbai, Vishal Dadlani was only part of the audience as he cheered on the contestants.

In an interview with a major newspaper, Vishal said, “I was out for a few months, so obviously they had to get a new judge in my place to get back on the show. I am expensive as a judge and therefore it would not have worked to recover.”

Vishal will now judge the musical reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. He said, “Whether I judge a show or not, you can and I will find a way to be happy Music is the center of our universe. And whether I’m walking away from a show for personal reasons or starting to judge a new show, the main idea or focus is helping young musicians nurture them and give them a platform.”

Vishal Dadlani had been a seasoned judge for Indian Idol from season 10 to season 12. The team Indian Idol hosted a party that Vishal attended along with Judge Sonu Kakkar and host Aditya Narayan.
