Karan Mehra of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai fame breathed a sigh of relief when he and his family were granted anticipatory release in the domestic abuse case. Nisha Rawal filed a complaint against Karan and his family members earlier this year, alleging that he withdrew more than Rs 1 crore from her bank account. Nisha also accused Karan of having an extramarital affair.

Earlier this year, the feud between actor Karan Mehra and his wife Nisha Rawal grabbed headlines and stunned everyone. It reached ahead on May 31, when the actor from Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai was detained after Nisha filed a domestic abuse report. Karan, who was released on bond on June 1, then claimed that Nisha had injured herself and was falsely accusing him of having an extramarital affair. He also claimed that Nisha was seeking a large alimony payment, which she disputed.

He said, ‘It has been a difficult time but thankfully, the court granted a judgment in our favor. Being granted anticipatory bail means that I, my old-aged parents, and my brother will not be arrested in the alleged false cases filed by Nisha against us. I have the proof to prove my innocence which I will show in court. The laws for such cases are more favorable for women, which is why this took a long time as one doesn’t get anticipatory bail in these matters. We will contest and fight the cases in court and present our truth. We are ready to fight.’

Karan, on the other hand, was accused of fabricating stories by Nisha. She accused Karan of behaving badly towards their son Kavish, alleging that he hadn’t spoken to him since his birthday in June. Nisha further revealed that Karan had tweeted images of items he had ordered for Kavish’s birthday, but that the gifts had never arrived. Nisha Rawal has emphatically denied asking Karan for alimony, instead requesting sole custody of their son, Kavish.

In her conversation with Bombay Times, Nisha had said, ‘I don’t want any alimony. What will he provide me with that I haven’t given him? We built everything together. I started earning at a very young age and supported him throughout even before he became a part of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. I have done so much work and whoever I collaborated with will vouch for the fact that Karan was in charge of the commercials.’
